Candidiasis Herbal rehabilitation - Strange Aftertaste for Using Grapefruit Seed extract

I have got a mail from a friend of mine who is experiencing something she hasn't met before in her candidiasis herbal treatment. This is her third day of using grapefruit seed extract, and she is noticing that everything she eats leaves an unpleasantly sweet, aspartame-like aftertaste. In addition, she said that she uses about five drops in a mouthful of water once a day. She wonders if this kind of experience has ever happened to anyone else.

For your information, I have observation that when many of my friends do not mix their extracts or tinctures in sufficient water, they will complain of that aftertaste. Herbal remedies should be mixed in no less than 4-6 oz of pure water or juice. It could be the vegetable glycerin in the bottle that is causing the aftertaste of more likely the grapefruit causing the taste buds to misinterpret the actual taste of the food.

Vegetable Glycerin Uses

For example, if you have ever tried Gymnema tea, it will make everything you eat that has sugar in it taste bitter. It is used quite frequently in diabetic programs, and it is nicknamed the killer of sugar.

Other herbal extracts are sweetened with Stevia, a natural herbal sweetener. It has a taste unlike most sweeteners and will leave an aftertaste. Check your bottle label for ingredients and see if that is in there. But, I think her question lies in the estimate of water she is mixing with. Try grape juice, as most habitancy say it works the best for masking flavor.
